TWO OF THE BEST SHOWS ON TELEVISION DURING THE 1960'S.
Yes, they were cheesy and sometimes silly. But they were the staples of our youth throughout the 70's and 80's. The overacting and dramatics mixed together with the bargain basement special effects were incredible. But these shows represent a forgotten era of television... an era of "escapism" where our imagination was given free reign to explore, create, and act out.
These days, we're given too much CGI, WAY to many dramatic shows that center on murder and housewives wanting to do the plumber. So let's turn back the hands of time and celebrate what GREAT television shows should be... ENTERTAINING.
Below are some general questions you may have. As time goes on, I'll be adding more and more content as we get closer to production.
THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY!!
The
first problem was deciding how to merge the two storylines. Considering this
is a low-buget attempt, I felt it would be easier having the crew of the Enterprise
come to the 1960's
Kirk and Spock beam down to 1967 Gotham City... and well, you can pretty much assume what could take place. The screenplay for the first episode is available here.
The "fanfilm" will be broken down into three 15 minute episodes, each premiering one to two weeks after the previous episode. This release will hopefully build momentum and keep true to the "cliffhanger" series that both shows often utilized.
All episodes will premiere exclusively on-line at RACSOFILMS.COM.
All
the cool gadgets and communicators... plus watching people "beam"
to far away locations was a 'Pandora's Box' for a kid. Everyday at 4pm on
Channel 9 (WFTV ir Orlando), my Grandad and I would watch Star Trek. It became
a ritual for me, and shortly afterwards, I'd be in his cluttered garage staging
my own episodes. Much of my creativity sprang from those childhood jaunts
in my Grandad's garage.
The show taught me about so many things... namely the friendship between Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. These characters were real, and their performances just as good... well, maybe not in the third season.
It was sad to see Star Trek go in a different direction once Paramount splintered the concept into a dozen different shows. It was the demise of a wonderful concept. This fanfilm will be a testament to the one and only ORIGINAL Star Trek.

Batman, along with Star Trek, was a show that didn't seem cheesy for a eight year old kid. I thought it was serious and as dramatic as watching the evening news. As I got older, I developed an affection for the show and what it meant to me as a child. Plus having my circle of friends who love the show as much as I do really helped develop the story.
Much of the reason I chose Batman came from an off the cuff joke between my friend Mike and I, who, after watching a Batman episode, joked how much fun it would be to watch William Shatner and Adam West square off in an acting contest. Just imagining all the upstaging and showmanship going on gave me the inspiration for this fanfilm.
