Madison Filmmaker to debut films at the Ohio Theater

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Madison native Christopher Allen is returning to his hometown of Madison Indiana to debut his latest feature film, “A Time For The Heart” and his first entry into the RACSO Motion Pictures catalogue, “The Living Years”, shot entirely throughout Madison throughout the summer of 1995.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to finally showcase my work on the very screen that gave me the inspiration to be a filmmaker.” said award winning filmmaker Christopher Allen from his studio in Carmel, Indiana. “’Superman’ and ‘Star Wars’ played at the Ohio when I was a kid, significant, eventful films that made a lasting impact on me.” He added. “I can still see the lines around the block around Rogers Drug Store to the Elks Lodge.”

“A Time For The Heart” is Allen’s latest effort, a supernatural time travel story that brings the daughter of Confederate General John Hunt Morgan, Johnnie Morgan, to present day Nashville, Tennessee. Upon her arrival, Johnnie is quickly put into police custody and labeled psychotic due to her extraordinary claim. Upon interviewing the beautiful young woman, a local history teacher, Richard Williams, sees merit to her claims, and immediately takes her away from the harrowing environment. The couple soon falls in love, and sets out to share an impossible life together.

Their bliss is abruptly ended when unexplainable headaches and fits of paranoia cripple Johnnie to the point of total narcosis. The FBI enters, informing Richard that Johnnie’s episodes are nature’s own safeguard against time travel. The only way to heal Johnnie is to return her to her own time, 1887. Faced with an agonizing decision, Richard must choose… send Johnnie back, or keep her with him, risking a lifetime of paranoia and mental illness.

“A Time For The Heart” had its gala world premiere at the Indianapolis IMAX theater on April 18, and will be shown exclusively at Madison’s Ohio Theater on Monday, June 8 at 8:30pm, Thursday June 11 at 9:15pm, and taking its final presentation on Saturday, June 13 at 4:15pm. Admission to each of the screenings is free to the general public.

“The Living Years” is Allen’s first feature film, debuting at the Ohio during the Bicentennial Celebration Week. Originally filmed in Madison over the summer of 1995, Allen stars with an all-local ensemble in this life-affirming tale of tragedy and love. Allen has painstakingly transferred the film’s original format to DVD to be exclusively sold at the Ohio Theater during its week long run.

“People will see a stark difference between both of my films.” said Allen. “It will be an amazing contrast to see our first and last film(s). The technical and professional quality is an astonishing differentiation. With “A Time For The Heart”, I hired a professional cinematographer and actress from New York City. With “The Living Years”, we just sort of figured it out as we went along.” Added Allen.

Since leaving Madison in early 1999, Filmmaker Christopher Allen has gone on to premiere his “Quantum Leap” film in Hollywood, California earlier this year, snagged a “Best Film” award for his comedy “Star Trek vs. Batman” in 2007, and currently showcasing “A Time For The Heart” throughout the region.
